Noel Gallagher faced a rare hostile reception from the Dublin crowd during Oasis's closing performance at Croke Park on Sunday night. The 58-year-old musician was met with fierce boos when he asked "Anyone from Manchester?" before launching into Half The World Away.

Taken aback by the unexpected reaction, Gallagher responded: "Excuse me, excuse me? Booing for the people in Manchester? Oh no, no, no, no, that won't do! Be nice!" The crowd's disapproval clearly caught the usually confident frontman off guard during what had otherwise been a triumphant evening.

Before performing the song, Gallagher took a dig at the House of Windsor, declaring: "This is for the Royle Family - the real Royal Family." The comment referenced the popular British sitcom while simultaneously mocking the monarchy.

Sold-out Dublin success

The incident occurred during the second and final night of Oasis performances at Dublin's iconic Croke Park during their highly anticipated 2025 reunion tour. Both nights were sold out, with the venue housing over 80,000 audience members each evening, according to the Mirror.

The Dublin shows represent a significant milestone in the brothers' reunion after their 16-year hiatus since 2009. Peggy Gallagher, the brothers' mother, was described as the "instigator" of the Oasis reunion, reportedly saying "wasn't it always going to happen at some time or other?"

Royal criticism continues

Gallagher's Royal Family barb reflects his long-standing criticism of the monarchy. Prior to Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, he stated he wasn't "anti-royal" but observed that the "appeal" of the monarchy had been "dwindling."

He remarked that "there are other things for people to be interested in," before describing the monarchy as "a bit farcical." The tour continues to Canada, North America, the UK, Asia, and Australia, ending in Brazil in November 2025.
